Silhouette Curio Overview

The Silhouette Curio has some neat features that the other vinyl cutters do not have.  It can etch, stipple, cut, sketch, and emboss on several unique materials.  It has a new blade with the ability to deep-cut materials up to 2 mm in thickness.  It now is able to feed thicker materials with up to 5 mm of clearance on this nifty little machine!  It’s dual carriage feature means it can do two jobs at the same time!

Silhouette Cameo 3 Overview

The Silhouette Cameo 3 is a bit newer than the Curio plotter, and it is more focused specifically on drawing and cutting.  The Cameo is a true vinyl cutter.  Whereas, the Curio is meant to be a complementary tool to the cutter. The Silhouette Cameo is one of the top selling vinyl cutters of 2018!  It holds this title because of its ability to cut so many different materials in such a precise and intricate manner.

The Cameo 3 can cut a wider and longer area than the Curio.  It cuts up to 12 inches wide by 10 feet long.  Whereas the Curio only cuts 8.5 inches wide by 12 long.

Here’s the verdict.  Since the Curio was created to go along with a standard vinyl cutter, as far as enhancing your projects with stippling, etching, and embossing – we recommend the Curio if you already own a vinyl cutter.  However, if this is your first dip into the vinyl cutter world, we recommend starting with the Cameo 3.
